Column Installation in theSRI Model 8610 and
Model 310GasChromatographs
equippedwith the split/splitless injector
Connect the column to thedetector us-
inga1/8” swagelok nut and1/8” soft
graphite ferruleor optionallya swagelok
reducing fittingand1/16” hardgraphite
ferrule.
The needle valve is normally adjusted
fully clockwise ( off ) since there is no
split duringanon-column injection, and
the split solenoid is not actuated from
PeakSimple. Therewill be some injector
purge flow continuously from the injector
purgeexit tube ( typically 3ml/minat
10psi headpressure ), but this does not
affect theon-column injection since the
sample is deposited in theboreof the
columnby the syringe.
Set the injector temperature toabout the
boilingpoint of theanalytes. Don’t set
the temperature higher than required
since this shortens the septum life, and
makes it harder for the columnoven to
cool down close toambient tempera-
tures.
