Optional Serial Interface
Mode2: TwoPositionWithoutStops
In thismode theactuatorusesonly theencoder tofind thecorrectposition. Thismode
isused for theCheminertModel C32valveand for customapplications involvingon/off
valvesor anyother twopositionvalve that literallyhasnomechanical stops.
Note:
Installing a valvewithmechanical stopswhile in thismode
coulddamage the actuator.
To setup theactuator in thismode:
1. Make sure that thevalve isalreadymountedon theactuator.
2. Type
AM2
<enter> to set theactuator toMode2,TwoPositionwithout Stops.
3. Type
NP
n
<enter>,where
n
is thenumberofports thevalvehas. For example,
NP6
<enter> tells theactuator that thevalvehas6ports,so theactuator can
calculate theappropriatenumberofdegrees frompositionA topositionB.
In thisexample, thatdistance is60degrees (360 /6ports).
Mode3: Multiposition
Select thismode for anyValcoorCheminertmultipositionvalveor selectorwithup to
32positions. Theactuatorwill use itsencoder tocalculate theproper rotation tofind
eachposition.
Note:
Installing a valvewithmechanical stopswhile in thismode
coulddamage the actuator.
1. Make sure that thevalve isalreadymountedon theactuator.
2. Type
AM3
<enter> to set theactuator toMode3,Multiposition.
3. Type
NP
nn
<enter>,wherenn is thenumberofpositions thevalvehas (mustbe
anevennumberbetween2and40). For example, for a10positionvalve, type
NP10<enter> to set thenumberofpositions to10.
Donot confuse thenumber of
positionswith thenumber of ports.
Manymultiposition valveshavemore
thanoneport associatedwith each
position.
4. Type
HM
<enter> to send thevalve to itsHOME
position (position1).
In thismode,counterclockwisemoves theactuator in the
“positive”direction—position1 toposition2. Theclock-
wisedirection is“negative”,moving in thedirectionof
position2 toposition1.
