The10-portgassamplingvalve isplumbed tobackflush thecolumn to thedetector. At anautomatically
repeating time intervalcontrolled through thebuilt-inPeakSimpledatasystem, thegassamplingvalve injects
thecontentsof its30µLsample loop into theHayesep-Dcolumn.There, it isseparated into theconstituent
hydrocarbonpeaks,whicharedetectedbyFID#1. In theLOADposition, thecarrier gas flows into the
columnwhilesamplegasflows through thesample loopandout tovent. In theINJECTposition, thecarrier
gasflowsfirst through thesample loop, thensweeps thesample into theHayesep-Dcolumn.
