TheMud-loggerGCsystem isdesigned toprovideacontinous readingof totalhydrocarbons inagas
stream,whileperiodicallyperformingachromatographicseparationofthesampletodeterminethecomposition
of thesamplegasstream.This isaccomplished
witha flow restrictor for themonitoringFID
(#2), and 10-port gas sampling valve&
sample loopfor thespeciationFID(#1).
In the temperature-programmable
columnoven, the 3-meterHayesep-D
packedcolumnefficientlyseparates the
constituenthydrocarbonspeaks(C

-C

).
In theheatedvalveoven, thesample inlet issplitbetween the10-port
gassamplingvalveandtherestrictor.Therestrictorcontrolsthesample
flowrateforthehydrocarbonmonitoringFID(#2).Thegassampling
valve periodically injects the
contentsofthesampleloopontothe
column for speciationbyFID#1.
In the temperature-programmable

C)columnoven,
the 3-meter Hayesep-D packed
column efficiently separates the
hydrocarbons up toC

. Valve injections are automated by the built-in
PeakSimpledatasystem,and the timing isdeterminedby theuser.
