The same sample is injected again using
theEvent table shown at right. The
valve stays in the Load position until
4.00minutes. TheStop-Flow solenoid is
actuated at .9minutes ( determined from
the chromatogram on the previous
page ) and de-activated at 4.00mintes.
This results inH2, O2, N2, CH4 and
COmigrating ontoColumn2 (Mole-
Sieve13X ) where they separate and
elute into theTCD detector. OnceCO
elutes ( about 4.00minutes ), the valve
is rotated back to the Load position and
theStop-Flow solenoid is de-energized.
The concept of immobilizing peaks by
stopping the flow is applicable tomany
situations andmany column combina-
tions, not just the two examples pre-
sented here.
