Restek’s polar-deactivated surface tightly binds the Carbowax® polymer and increases
thermal stability, relative tocompetitivecolumns.Becauseof the increased stabilitypro-
ducedby thebondingprocess, Stabilwax® columns exhibit long column lifetimes, even
when programming repeatedly up to 260 °C. The bondingmechanism of the column
alsoproducespolar compound retention times that donot shift as is oftenobservedon
otherwax-type columns. Inaddition, thisbondingmechanismproduces a column that
canbe rejuvenatedby solventwashing.Stabilwax®columns areused for awide rangeof
compounds andmatrices including: FAMEs, flavor compounds, essential oils, solvents,
aromatics including xylene isomers, acrolein/acrylonitrile (EPA 603), and oxygenated
compounds.Alsoused forpurity testingof chemicals andanalyzing impurities inwater
matrices and alcoholic beverages.
