To identify gasolineand its constit-
uents that remainafter evaporation
(BTEX) obtain some gasolineand
place it into an airtight vial. Using
the 3mLsyringe, suck out 1mLof
headspacegas from the top of the
vial.
With the syringe plunger still at the
1mLmark, place the needleup
against the septumof the injection
port (but not poking through it yet).
Press theStart Runbuttonor
press the spacebar on the key-
board.
Insert the syringe all theway
through the septumas far as it will
go. Immediately depress the
plunger and quicklywithdraw the
syringe.
