TheSRI GreenHouseGasGC configuration
consists of anElectronCaptureDetector ( ECD )
andaFlame IonizationDetector ( FID ) plus
Methanizer.
TheECDdetectsNitrousOxide ( N2O ) while
theFID/Methanizer detectsmethane ( CH4 ) and
CarbonDioxide ( CO2 ).
Basedon fieldexperienceover the last few
years, wehave changed theplumbingand col-
umns slightly to improve theanalysis.
As of August 2008wenow suggest a combina-
tionof a2meter Haysep-D column in serieswith
another 2meter Haysep-D column..
The system is operatedonNitrogen carrier at 20
psi withNOmakeupgas provided for theECD to
keep the flow to theFID in thenormal range
( althoughmakeupgasmay beutilized if de-
sired ). Makupgasmaymake theFID flame
harder to light since the total flowwill thenbe
higher. HydrogenandAir are supplied to the
FID/Methanizer as normal.
