Both Mud-logging GC systems are designed to provide a continuous reading of total
hydrocarbons inagasstreamwhileperiodicallyperformingachromatographicseparationof
thesample todetermine theexacthydrocarboncompositionof thesamplestream. Thesample
gasstream isconnected toabulkhead fittingon theheatedvalveoven,where it flows through
the loopof the10-portgassamplingvalve,andalso to thesecondFIDdetector,whichcontinually
monitors thehydrocarboncontentof thegas. Automatically,atarepeating time intervalcontrolled
by theoperator, thegassamplingvalve injects thecontentsof its loop into theGCcolumn,where
it isseparated into theconstituenthydrocarbonpeaksanddetectedby the firstFIDdetector.
Thebuilt-in, fourchannelPeakSimpledatasystemconnectsquicklyandeasily toyourWindows
TM
PCorLaptop,anddisplaysboth thecontinuous totalhydrocarbon readingand theseparatedpeaks.
