BPRAssemblies
Choose from our line of Biocompatible and Stainless Steel BPR
Assemblies,eachcompletewithareplaceable, factorypresetcartridge
(except the5and20psi versions).
Upchurch Scientific BPR Assemblies create incremental back
pressuresranging from5to1,000psi (0.3to69bar).TheBiocompatible
BPR Assemblies feature a PEEK holder; polymer-based fittings;
biocompatibleBPRcartridges andwrenches for tightening. Stainless
SteelBPRAssemblies feature thesamebiocompatibleBPRcartridges
witha316 stainless steel holder andpolymer fittings.

APPLICATIONNOTE
Small gasbubblesoften formas solventmoves from thehighpressure
of anHPLCcolumn to the lowpressureenvironment leading to the
detector. Thisoutgassingcancauseerraticbaseline readingsand lossof
sensitivity. PlacinganUpchurchScientificBPR (usuallya40–100psi) after
thedetector providesanexcellent, low-costmethod for reducing this
problembymaintainingenoughbackpressureon themobilephase to
keepgasesdissolved in solution.
Abackpressure regulator canalsobeusedasapumppreload for low
andfluctuatingpressureapplications.Manyof today’spumps requirea
steadybackpressure to functionproperly. Install anUpchurchScientific
BPR (usually500–1,000psi) between thepumpand the injector to
enhancepumpperformance.
Caution:Donotexceed themaximumoperatingpressureof your system—
please refer to theoperatingmanuals for your systemcomponentsbefore
choosing theappropriateBPR.
