programmer (DVSP) isanadd-on
or stand-alone timer/programmer
with4 intervals,settable in rangesof
0-99 seconds,0-9.9minutes,or 0-99
minutes. TheDVSP ismost commonly
used for remoteoperationof electrical
devices suchas solenoidvalves,Valco
twopositionormultipositionelectric
actuators,and theValcoDVI (digital
valve interface),whichconverts
contact closures intopneumaticpulses
for switchingValco twopositionair
actuators.
TheDVSPhas twooperational
modes: in theAUTOmode, theDVSP
will return to thefirst interval and
beginanother sequenceafter the
last interval is completed,and in the
SINGLECYCLEmode it stopsafter
completingone sequence. During
acycleor sequence,simplecontrols
allow theuser to stop thecycle, reset it
to Interval 1,switch to theAUTOmode,
or advance to thenext interval. The
DVSPcanalsobewired for remote
operationbycontact closure froma
data systemorother control device.
Each interval hasonedoublepole,
double throw relay, ratedat 5amps,
whichprovides two setsof contacts
withnoconnection fromone side to
theother. Thismeans that a single
interval canbeused toperform two
separate functions requiringdiffering
voltage requirements. For example,
one sideof RelayA (Interval 1) canbe
used to switchanelectricactuator
(contact closure)while theother
side is connected to110/230VAC
and switchesa110/230VAC solenoid
valveat the same timeas theelectric
actuator. Inaddition,RelayE supplies
a two secondcontact. When solenoid
valvesarewired in serieswith this
relay the result is“pulsedoperation”
of theair actuator,whichavoids the
potential valveandactuatorproblems
associatedwithcontinuously-applied
airpressure.
Both12VDCand110/230VACpower
suppliesare includedwithin theDVSP,
but the relaysmaybe suppliedwith
power fromanexternal power source.
For example,24VDC solenoidvalves
canbe switchedby theDVSP relays if
the24volts is supplied to the relays
fromanexternal 24VDCpower supply.
