1. Entera temperatureprogram for thecolumnoven. The temperature
program isdeterminedby thesampleand thegoalsof theanalysis.
2. Forgassamples, fill the1mLgassyringewith0.5-1mL. For liquid
samples,fillthe10µLliquidsyringewith1µL,removingthebubblesbefore
injecting.
3. Clickon theAutoZerobutton tozero
thedatasystemsignal. Hit thecomputer
keyboardspacebar.
4. Pierce theseptum in theon-column injectorwith thesyringe
needle. Insert theneedlestraight into theon-column injector
port;avoidbending theneedle. Depress thesyringeplunger to
inject thesample, thenwithdraw thesyringe. For thebestand
mostconsistentresults,useaneasilyreproducible injection techniquewithquick,smoothmovements.
1. Set thevalveoven temperaturebetweenambientand175
o
C
using the trimpoton the topedgeof thefrontcontrolpanel. Enter
a temperatureprogramfor thecolumnoven.
3. Sample is injected into thebulkheadfitting
labeled“SAMPLEIN”on thefrontof thevalveoven. Thefitting isequippedwitha1/8”
Swageloknutforeasyconnectionofsamplestreams.
4. Press the computer keyboard spacebar to initiate the run. Thevalvewill automatically rotate to the
INJECTpositionat0.1minutes(orwhatever timeyouentered in theEventsTable).

NOTE: Ifyouare injectingwithaPurge&Trap,TO-14,orHeadspaceconcentrator, a thermaldesorber,an
autosampler,oranyoftheheatedon-columninjectors(PTV,Split/Splitless,etc.),pleaseseethecorresponding
manualsectionforoperatingprocedures.
2. Enteraneventprogram toautomatically inject thecontentsof
thevalvesampleloop. ThevalveisusuallyintheLOADposition
(default),duringwhichRelayGisOFF.WhenrelayGisactivated,
thevalve isrotated to theINJECTposition, inwhich thecarrier
gas stream sweeps the contents of the sample loop onto the
column(s). Set thevalve toINJECT(RelayGON)0.1minutes
into therununlessyouhavespecificrunparameters that require
differenttiming.
