III. Software Installation
1. Connect theserialorUSBcable toyourcomputerand theGC. Theserialport
connection ison the left-handsideof theGC,and theUSBconnection ison theright-handside.
3. Doubleclickon“MyComputer,” thendoubleclickonyour
computer’sCDdrive toview thecontentsof theCD. To install
PeakSimple,doubleclickon the“setup***.exe” icon,andfollow
the instructions. (“***”represents thecurrentversionnumberof
PeakSimple.)
5. Double-click on the PeakSimple icon to launch the program. Verify that
communicationhasbeenestablishedbetween thecomputerand theGC. Anerror
message will
appear
if
communicationisnotestablished.
2. LocateyourPeakSimple softwareandSRIProductManual
CD. Insert theCD intoyourcomputer’sappropriatedrive.
4. ForUSB, refer to“
Installing theUSBDrivers forModel302USBPeakSimpleDataSystem
”whichyou
willfindimmediatelybehindtheseinstructionsinyourmanual,oronlineatwww.srigc.com. Returntostep#5
belowwhenyouarefinished installing theUSBdrivers. Forserialport,proceed to thenextstep.
6. Open the
Edit
menu and choose
Overall
. In thedialogbox that popsup,
enter the number of the COM port to
whichyouhaveconnected theGC. For
USB,entertheuniqueUSBdevicenumber
thatisprintedonyourPeakSimpledisk(s),
andon thebackof theGC. It isa4-digit
numberthatalwaysbeginswith“5”(5093,
5276, etc.).

“DownloadOurDocuments”button)thatwillacquaintyouwiththebasicfunctions
of thePeakSimplechromatographysoftware includedwithyourGC.Toview the
manual, insert theCD intoyourcomputer’sCDdrive,doubleclickon“Manual
Index”(anHTMLdocument), thenclickon themanual titleofyourchoice toview
andprint thePDF.YouwillneedAdobeAcrobatReaderonyourcomputer,afree
