1. Set theFID amplifier
gain switch toHIGH for
mostapplications. Ifpeaks
of interestgooff thescale
(greaterthan5000mV),set
thegain toMEDIUM.
3. Ignite theFIDbyholding the ignitorswitchupforacoupleofseconds,untilyou
hearasmallPOP. The ignitorswitch is locatedon thefrontpanelofyourGCunder
the“DETECTORPARAMETERS”heading,withaverticallabelreading“FLAME
IGNITE.” Verify that the
flame is lit byholding the
shiny side of a wrench
directly in front of the
collectoroutlet/FIDexhaust
vent. Ifwatercondensation
becomes visible on the
wrenchsurface,theflameis
lit.

2. Set theFIDhydrogenflow to25mL/minute,and theFIDair to250mL/minute. Theapproximatepressures
requiredfor thisflow throughyourGCare labeledon theright-handsideof theGCchassis. Inmostcases, the
pressurewillhavebeensetcorrectlyat thefactory. Check thehydrogenandairflowsettingsbypressing the
LOCALSETPOINTbuttonwhileobserving theLEDdisplay. Thegasflowsettingsareadjustedusing the
trimpotson the topedgeof theGCfrontcontrolpanel.
Turn the
trimpot while
holding down
the “LOCAL
SETPOINT”
button until
you read your
desiredsetting
in the LED
display.
