I. Gas Installation&Connection
1. ToconnectyourGC toagassupply,werecommend thefollowing:
A50foot lengthofcopper tubing
Astainlesssteelgaslinefilter
At least2setsofstainlesssteelSwageloknutsandbrassferrules
(it isagood idea tokeepa fewextrasonhand)
Acylinderpressureregulatorwith0-100psioutput
NOTE:
each typeofcylinderhasadifferentCGAconnection to the
regulator(CGA=CompressedGasAssociation). Air is typicallyCGA
590or346. HeliumandnitrogenareCGA580. Hydrogenandargon-
methaneareCGA350.
GaslineinstallationkitsthatincludeeverythingyouneedareavailablefromSRI:
8600-C590 Airgas linekit(withbothCGA590and346 inletfittings)
8600-C580 Helium/nitrogengaslinekit
8600-C350 Hydrogen/argon-methanegas linekit(thehydrogenCGA isequippedwithaflow
restrictor to limit theescapeofgas in theeventofa leak)
Thesekitsincludeeverythinginthelistofrecommendedsuppliesabove,plusatubingcutter. Eachregulatoris
suppliedwitha1/8”Swagelokfittingforeasyconnection to thecopper tubing.
2. UsingtheappropriateCGAconnectionasdescribedabove,attachtheregulatorsecurelytothegascylinder.
5. Connect thegasorgases to the
inletson the left-handsideof the
GCas labeled.
NOTE:
the GC shown here is
equipped with a built-in air
compressor. When using the
internalaircompressor insteadof
cylinderair,a jumper tube issecured to theair inletandoutlet. IfyouorderedyourGCwithanaircompressor,
it isshippedwith the jumper tube inplaceasshown.
4. Ifyoudon’talreadyfilteryourgas, installgas linefilter(s) in thegas line(s)where it isconvenient toreplace
whenneeded.

3. Secureoneendof the1/8”copper tubing to
theregulatorwithaSwageloknutandferrule. Cut
thetubingtothedesiredlengthbeforeconnecting
it to theGC. Makesure to leave it longenough
toallowyoutomoveyourGCaroundyourwork
area.
