Changing thePEMmembraneon the
SRI hydrogen generator
1) TheProtonExchange
Membrane ( PEM ) used in
theSRI hydrogen generator
may need replacingperiodi-
cally. If the generator does
not makehydrogen at all, or
only very little, if themem-
brane looks very dark or dirty,
or if thegenerator gets hot
and steamy, it may be time to
replace thePEM.
2) Remove theH2 gen-
erator cell from theGC or
stand-alone chassis, then
gentlywiggle off the black
wire connector on the top of
the cell.
3) Loosen the eight
screwswhich clamp the top
of the cell to thebottom. Ini-
tially, just loosen each screw
a littlebit and loosen them
evenly to avoid putting too
much stress onany one
screw. Thewater in the cell
will leak out when you do
this, so it may be agood idea
to do this over a sink.
