slightlywhencooled
to room temperature.
Materials
PTFE ishighly inert and
maybeusedwithmost
commonmaterials. It is
particularlyuseful for
workingwithmost acids
andorganic solvents.
However,problemsmay
beencounteredwhen
usedwithorganometallics
and some strongbases.
We recommendactual
exposure testsbefore
usewithanymaterial.
Pressure
The sealingabilityof
Mininert valves ismore
thanadequate for con-
tainingmost volatile
liquidsandgasesat
lowpressures. Mininert
valveshavebeenusedas
highas120psiwithout
leakage,but this is
not
a recommendation
forpressurizingglass
containers to these levels.
Suchpressurizationof
glass containers canbe
extremelydangerous.
calibration standards,air-ormoisture-
sensitivefluids,derivatizing reagents,
or volatilechemicals. Operation is
extremely simple–push thegreen
button toopen thevalve, insert the
needle through the septumand take
a sample,withdraw theneedle,and
push the redbutton toclose thevalve.
