Hydrogen/Hydrocarbon Leak Detector/Monitor
EquippedwithaCCDdetector, theSRIHydrogen/HydrocarbonLeakDetector/monitorconnects to
yourvoltmeter,whichprovidesthedigitalreadout. Asthehydrogenand/orhydrocarbonconcentrationincreases,
thevoltmeter reading increases. Thedetection limit isapproximately500ppm. The110voltACunit is
shippedwitha9voltDCwall transformer,but itmayberunonanybatterysourcewithvoltagebetween8and
15volts. Powerconsumption isapproximately200milliamps.
Tosniff the fittingsonaGC forhydrogenorargon/methane leaks,
simply hold theCCD sensor near each potential leak sitewhile
observing thevoltmeterreadout. Makesure tozero thesignal first,
using theZeroAdjust knob. Checkall potential leak siteson the
outsideof theGC, then inspect thechassis interior:gas linefittings,
T’s,andrestrictors.

Touse theHydrogen/hydrocarbonLeakDetector:
1. Connect the leakdetector toyourvoltmeter:plug theredandblackwires into thecorrespondingsocketson
thevoltmeter(RED=positive,BLACK=negative).
2. Plug in thedetector’spowersource.
3. Set thevoltmeter to itsmostsensitivesetting(typically200millivolts).
4. Use theZeroAdjustknob tozero thedetectorsignal to thevoltmeter.
