Remove thequartzwoolandHgOwitha longsharpobject,anddisposeof themproperly. WipeanyHgOoff
thesharpobjectwithadisposablewipeor tissueanddiscard. Re-pack thereactor tubewith1/8”ofHgOand
addfreshquartzwool. TheHgOmustcover thefaceof thefritentirely toforce thesample through theHgO
and into theUVcell.
Thegraphiteferruleseals theendof thereaction tubearound thecolumn. Change thegraphiteferrulewhen
youchange thereaction tube.

themercuricoxide(HgO)andre-pack thereactor tube, forwhichyouwillneedfreshHgOandquartzwool.

Toremove thereactor tube, loosen thefitting thatsecures it to thecolumnandRGD jet,andpull thereactor
tubeout.
