Acid / BaseReactions
Acids, such as phenols andbenzoic acidwill react
with bases, such as anilines, benzidines, and
nitrosamines.
Most calibration standards prepared
with these compounds togetherwill onlybe usable
for onlyabout oneweek.
These incompatible
compoundswere kept separate to ensure
maximumshelf life of the ampulated stock
solutions.
Lowresponse, tailingpeaks, or complete loss of
these compounds are signs of acid / base reactions
in your calibration standards.
