connectorwas testedusinghighly
volatile gases that are very susceptible to tailing from the
presence of deadvolume in the sample pathway. The
chromatographic system initiallywas configured using a
purge-and-trap concentrator connected to the capillary
columnby a split injectionport. The columnwas directly
inserted into theMS interface (Figure 1). The same
configurationwas then evaluatedwith the EZNo-Vent
TM
connector at theMS interface. Anydeadvolume in this
fittingwould result in significant tailing andbroader
peaks. As shown the peak shapewas excellent using this
new fitting (Figure 2).
