The standardmetal inlet seals are troublesome toget a
leak-free seal evenunder ideal conditions. Several
different inlet sealswere testedusing a high sensitivity
leakdetectorwith aHelium leak rate range of 1x10
-1
to
2 x 10
-10
(atmcc/sec.). The inlet sealswere tested at
various torques todetermine the affect of tighteningon
the new inlet seal and a conventional standardmetal inlet
seal. Several seals of each typewere tightened at 5, 25,
and60pounds and the leak ratesweremeasured at each
setting. The followingdata shows the differences
between the two types of inlet seals.
