Abstract
InSplit/Splitless injectionports, it can be difficult to
make andmaintain a good sealwith a conventional
metal inlet disk. Themetal tometal seal dictates that you
apply considerable torque to the reducingnut, but this
does not always ensure a leak-tight seal. Over-tightening
of the reducingnut can cause the critical seal on the
bottomof the injector to become damagedor flattened.
Over the course of oven temperature cycling,metal seals
are prone to leaks, which ultimately candegrade the
capillary column and cause other analytical difficulties.
