Several different HPLCStationary phaseswereevaluated to check
for improved separationof theprilocaineand lidocaine. Phases
suchasAllureBasix, AllureC18, AllurePFP, UltraCyano, Ultra IBD,
UltraAminoandPinnacle II Amino showedeither no retentionof all
eight compounds (cocaineand theadulterants) or no separationof
theprilocaineand lidocaine.
Amock sample containing65% cocaine, 16% caffeine, 10%
procaineand10%phenacetinwas preparedandanalyzedon the
UltraC18 column. Theon-column concentrations of the cocaine,
caffeine, procaineandphenacetinwere133, 33, 20and20ng,
respectively. TheUltraC18 stationary phasegave thebest retention
and thegreatest resolutionof all of the compounds considered in
this study. (SeeTable#1andChromatogram#3). Total analysis
timewas again8.0minutes.
