1. Click on thewindows
Start
button in thebot-
tom left-hand corner of the screen. Select
Programs
and then
PeakSimple
from the list
of programgroups on the screen and then
click on
PeakSimple.
2. Thiswill launchPeakSimpleand initialize the
dataacquisition system.
3. If PeakSimple comes upwith an errormes-
sage stating “Acquisition system is not func-
tioning” with a countdown timer, it is indicating
that there is a communicationproblembe-
tween the computer and the data system or
that thedata systemand thehardware is not
connected. Click
OK
to continueworkingwith
PeakSimple.
4. Most of the commands andoptions inPeak-
Simpleareequippedwith tool tips that will
automatically pop up to display useful infor-
mationwhen themouse cursor is heldover a
command. To turn off the tool tips deselect
the tool tips option in theHelpmenu.
Opening aPeakSimpleDataFile
1. ToopenaPeakSimpledata fileor chroma-
togram, begin by selecting
File
in thePeak-
Simplemenubar and then choose
Open…
from the set of options.
2. TheLoadChromatogramFilewindow is now
open. ThePeakSimple software includes a
number of sample chromatogram data files
that canbeopened, displayed, andmanipu-
lated. One file, 602.CHR, will be used
throughout the rest of the tutorial. Select file
602.CHR
from thePeakSimpledirectory,
choose
Channel 1
asa destination channel,
and then select
Open
to load the file.
