The American Society for

Testing and Materials

(ASTM) is an organiza-

tion that publishes con-

sensus standards for

materials, products, and

services. Because ASTM

methods are developed

by consensus from the

laboratories following the

method, they are recog-

nized worldwide. ASTM

Method D-6352 is a gas chromatography (GC)

method developed for the determination of petrole-

um distillates with a boiling point range of 174°C to

700°C. Often referred to as high-temperature simu-

lated distillation or Sim Dist, this method requires a

capillary column capable of withstanding high GC

oven temperatures, up to 430°C. This presents

many challenges for analysts because most capillary

Durable metal tubing and high-temperature polymer

allows analysis of hydrocarbons up to C110.

Low bleed at high temperatures help achieve accurate quantitation.

Meets all criteria of ASTM Method D-6352.
