There aremany columns that are currentlyused for the analysis
of volatile environmental pollutants byGC/MS.Most of the
stationaryphases that are offeredhave adequate selectivity,
bleed and inertness for themost commonmethods. Problems
occurwhen starting temperatures&oven ramp rates are
increased. Laboratories that increase runtimeswithout carefully
checking themass-spectra of each coeluting analytemay
compromise data integrity.
This paperwill compare four common stationaryphases to a
newvolatile-mass / spec phase for separationof isomeric pairs
usinghighoven starting temperatures and a rapid final oven
ramp rate. Other common analytes that share ionswill alsobe
presented.
