MicroTight Tubing Sleeves feature an outer
diameter of 0.025” andoffer awide assortment of inner diameters
to help facilitate capillary tubing connections with ourMicroTight
accessories.Becausethesleevesaremanufactured fromPEEKpolymer,
they carryanupper temperature thresholdof 125 ºC.
Touse thesesleevesproperly, chooseasleevewithan innerdiameter
0.001”–0.002” (25–50 µm) larger than the outer diameter of your
capillary tubing.Then, slip thesleeveoveryourflowpath tubing, such
thatyourtubingextendsall thewaythroughthesleeve,butnotbeyond
the endof the sleeve. Choose the correct fitting that corresponds
with your receivingport, slide it over the sleeved flowpath tubing
andconnect asnormal.

recommendedcontinuousoperating temperatureof 50 ºC.

APPLICATIONNOTE
WhyuseSleeves?
Becausemost capillary tubingconnectionsaremade intoconed
receivingports,where theport isnotdesigned tobeusedwithcapillary
tubingdirectly, special caremustbeused toensureagoodconnection.
Whilecustom ferrules canhelpmake theseconnections, theyonlyoffer a
fixed-lengthnose—andbecausemost tubingpocketswill vary slightly
in length, this can lead to leakingordead volume.
Tohelp saveoverall expensewhilemaintainingaconcentricconnection
withminimal deadvolume, IDEXHealth&Science recommends theuse
of sleeves.Because sleevesarenotpermanentlyattached toa ferrule, they
caneasilyadapt tovarying tubingpocketdepths.Additionally, because
theyaremanufacturedusingUpchurchScientificextrudedpolymer
tubing, youareassuredof theconcentricityof the resultant connection.
