4. Open the innerclamshellcasebyunscrewing the twosmallphilipsheadscrews thathold the two
halves together. Gentlyremove thewhite insulation toaccess thedetectorblock.
5. Thefilamentsareheld inplacebyglandnuts; loosen thesenuts to
removethefilamentsandcoppergaskets.

thenewfilament
thesameas theoneyouare replacing (youcanusecoloredmarker
pens, electrical tape, etc.)beforecompletely removing theoldone.
Slide theglandnutoff theexisting filament, toward theendsof the
filamentleads.
6. Put thenew filament’s leads through thegland
nut. Slidetheglandnutupthefilament’sleadsuntilit
rests against the base of the filament. Place the
coppergasketagainst the rimof thedetectorblock
cellopening. Carefullyinsertthefilamentandgland
nut together into thecellopening. Tighten thegland
nut tosecure thefilament in thecell.
7. Whenyou’refinishedreplacingfilaments,place there-assembleddetectorblock
insidetheinnerclamshellwiththeinsulationandheatercartridge. Makesurethegas
inletandoutlet tubesarerunning through thecut-outs in theclamshell. Secure the
clamshellwithitstwoscrews.
8. Reconnect theTCDdetectorgas inletsandoutlets.
9. Replacetheinnerclamshellanditsinsulationinsidethedetectorhousingthatispermanentlymounted
on thecolumnovenwall. Replace thehousingcoverandsecurewith its thumbscrew.
10. Reconnect thefilament leads to thebridgecurrent terminalblock. Use thecolorguide labelson
the terminalblock to insert thecolor-coded leads into theappropriate terminal.
