theirporevolume fallingbelow150Å.Thismeans a largeportionof the surfacearea isunavailable to larg-
ermolecules.Viva columnshave anarrowdistributionabout themeanpore size,permitting a largerpor-
tionof the silica surface toplay a role in the separation.
