BUILD-A-
PART
AffordableUniqueSolutions:
DesignYourNewComponentwithBuild-A-Part®bondable
components!
Component designers
no longer needbe
constrainedby
the limitations
of injection
molding tool design. The
exact fitting, in theoptimal layout
for theprocessor product concept,
isnowavailablewithValuePlastics’
lineof Build-a-Part bondable components,
designed for usewithgasesor liquids.
TheBuild-a-Part system isbasedon combining interchangeable
components, joining junctionblocks and luer, hosebarbor threaded
features to create thedesired configuration. The features arebonded
to the junctionblocksusing commonlyavailableadhesives. Junction
blocks and featuresmaybebonded together to createmulti-port,
multi-axisproducts that receiveand redirect fluidflow inwhatever
direction thedesigner desires. Theonly limitation is thedesigner’s
imagination.
114 component options areavailable from stock in twoprimary
materials. Options include ISO594-1 compliantmaleand female luers
andhosebarbs in 1/16” (1.6mm), 3/32” (2.4mm) and 1/8” (3.2mm) in
straight, elbowandbranch tee configurations. Alsoavailablearemale
threads including 10-32UNF, 1/16-27NPT, 1/8-27NPT, 1/4-28UNFand
M6x1 versions, andmountingdevices.
The complete range is available in twoprimary resins:whiteABSor
translucent polysulfone. For easeof testing concepts, ValuePlastics
offersdesigner kits inboth resins. Eachkit containshundredsof
components for prototypepurposes, enablingdesigns tobe created
andmodifiedprior toproduction commitment.
BondingSuggestions
Prior toactuallybonding, press together amodel of the
manifold touseas a reference.
Donotmixplastic resins. Consult your adhesive specialist if
youneed tobonddissimilarmaterials.
These components aredesigned for bondingwithanyone
of anumber of solvents, but other adhesive systemsmaybe
used. When solvent bonding, useavery small gaugeneedle
(typically27or 30) for best solvent control. Consult your
adhesive specialist for guidanceonother systems.
Apply solvent sparingly. Most solvents are lowviscosity
and readilywick into thebondline. Excessive solventmay
compromise theaesthetics and the functionof theassembly.
Press themating components together leavinga .01-.03”gap
between them for the solvent. Place the components inan
orientation such that theymaybe rotated¼ turn to their final
positionafter applying the solvent.
After applying solvent, wait a few seconds, then rotate the
components to their final position.Whenmakinga long
manifoldwithbondable junctionblocks itmaybehelpful to
push theassemblyagainst a flat surface toalign theblocks
before the solvent has set.
