TheXThread
ValuePlasticsxSeries componentshavea tapered 10-32
thread that functions likeapipe thread. In comparison to
standard 10-32UNF threadedfittings, the tapereddesign
worksbetterwithoversizedports andportswhicharenot
perpendicular to the faceof the component.
The 120degree chamfer under thehexprovides a sealwhen
thefitting is tightened intoaportwitha countersinkas shown
below. It also sealson the threaddue to interferenceon the
pitchdiameter.Whenusinganelbowor tee, the tapered
thread tightens radiallyand facilitatesdirectional alignment of
thebarb.
Other ThreadSeries
k, b, canddSeriesfittings, designed for usewith 10-32unf
ports, are straight-threaded components. Thesefittings seal
against the 120degree chamfer under thehexon thefitting
anddonot tighten radiallyas theyareassembled. sSeries
fittings are straight threaded components for 1/4-28unf
ports,M5Series are forM5x .8ports andm6Series are form6
x 1 ports.
Part numbers for fittingswithpipe threads arenotedbelow.
Those for usewith 1/16-27NPTportshavepart numbers
prefixedwith 16; those for 1/8-27nptportshavepart
numbersprefixedwith 18; and those for 1/4-18nptportshave
part numbersprefixedwith 14.

Failure todo sowill jeopardize theperformanceof the seal
between thefittingandport. For applications inwhich this
seal ishighly critical,we recommend that you contact a
sealant specialist.
