Chemical characteristicsofPEEK
®
PEEKexhibitsexcellent resistance toawide rangeof
organicand inorganicchemicals. Thecompatibility
of PEEKwithmanychemicalsat 20°C (68°F) hasbeen
investigatedand the results forunreinforcedgradesare
given in the tablebelow.
PEEK is compatiblewithalmost anyof the solventsused
inHPLC. Theonly solventswhichwill attackPEEKare
concentratednitricacidand sulphuricacids. However,
PEEK tubingcan safelywithstand20-30%nitricacid
whenpassivatinga system.
Methylenechloride,DMSO,andTHFmaycause swelling
inPEEK. Thehighest temperaturewe recommend
forPEEK is100°C. The tubingwillmaintain the stated
pressure rating up to this temperature.
