About Selectors
Insteadof thebackand forth switchingof twopositionvalves,selectors
(multipositionvalves) step incrementally throughcontinuous revolutions
(bi-directionallywith themicroelectricactuator). Whilewecan supplyolder
models,all thevalves in this cataloghaveapreloadassembly. Thisdesignallows
the rotor tobe inspectedor replacedwithout taking thevalveoff theactuator,
andvalvesorderedwithamicroelectricactuator arepermanentlyaligned.
FlowpathConfigurations
SD (dead-ended)
valves selectone
of 4 to16dead-ended streams,
directing it through thevalveoutlet
toa samplevalve,pressure sensor,
detector,column,etc. The same
configurationcanalsodirectone
stream toanumberof outlets for
fractioncollection.
SC (commonoutlet)
selectorsare
similar toSDs,except that insteadof
beingdead-ended thenon-selected
streamsflow toacommonoutlet.
SF (flow-through)
selectorsare similar
toSDsandSCs,selectinga streamand
sending it to theoutlet. However,SFs
allow thenon-selected streams toflow
through individual outlets insteadof a
commonoutlet.
ST (trapping)
selectorsareused for
multi-column,multi-sample,ormulti-
trapoperations.
STF (trapping/flow-through)
selectorsare similar toSTs,with the
singledifferencebeing that thenon-
selected streamsare returned to their
ownventsor sources rather thatbeing
dead-endedor trappedas theyare in
the standardSTconfiguration.
