MicroTeesandMicroCrosses to joincapillary
tubing. All of these products aremade entirely of PEEKand have
0.006” (0.150mm) thru-holes, with resulting swept volumes ranging
from29 to81nL.
APPLICATIONNOTE
Several researchersuseour PEEKMicroTee to introduce ionizing voltage
to their fluid stream justprior toaMassSpectrometer

.MicroTeesare
well suited for thisapplicationdue toadvantageous internal geometry
andPEEKpolymer’selectrical resistance. Thematerials required for this
setupareas follows: onegoldorplatinumconductingwire, oneP-775
or P-875MicroTee (thispage), oneMicroTight TubingSleeve (page19)
for theconductingwire (asneeded toaccommodatewirediameter), and
at least twomoreMicroTight TubingSleeves (page19) toconnect your
capillary tubing.
To set upa similar connection, first thread yourwire through the
appropriate tubing sleeve, if necessary, with thewireextendingbeyond
bothendsof the sleeve. Slip the femalenut includedwith theMicroTee
over thewireor sleevedwire, followedby the ferrule—ensuring the
wire (and its sleeve) extendswell past theendof the ferrule tip.Align the
tipof thewirewith the thru-holeof theMicroTeeandgently insert the
wireuntil itbottomsout.Nowfinger tighten the femalenut intoplace.
Attach your flowpath tubing to theMicroTee’s twoother availableports,
following the instructionsprovidedwith theMicroTee.
Beginfluidflow through the teeandapply voltage to theconducting
wire lead. This setup typicallyprovideseffectiveelectrospray ionization in
applicationshavingaflow rateof 100µL/minorgreater.
